something that my grandma taught me has left me never scared of another needle... just look the other way or close your eyes and don't look at the needle ever and just remember the worse you make it in your head the worse it will actually be and if you do that then it should go in like butter and not cause any pain cause the more tense you are the worse its going to be
I hate shots to, but just think about, shot are GOOD for your body, they may hurt a tiny bit, but in the long run they are good for you.
The needles they use are SOOO sharp, you really can't feel it. I'm serious. Tell yourself "There is no pain. There is no pain."

Well think about it for a minute... It is really quick, just don't look at all. Don't watch the nurse or the process.
Good luck!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you probably get scared when you SEE a shot thing. This is probably what everyone tells you, but just close your eyes and you won't even notice it. It's just the fact that it is a needle that probably scares you. Try not to look at it that much. Once, I fell on my head somehow and it didn't hurt just a bit until...guess what...I saw the blood. That's when I started freaking out. So just think why are you scared if it will do no harm, and it won't hurt? It's just the looks of it. Good luck!
i hated shots too i used to passout when id get them. but then i had gotten cancer and other problems were ive gotten millions of shots/needles and i can now look at them and watch it be done and also do them myself, you can not look and look away while its done, breathe calmly aslo try a head set like ipod or walkman anything to get your mind off of it
i'm also terrified when i get shots but when i do get them, i always try to relax and try not to be all tensed up because it would hurt more if you do that and i also look away from the needle LOL
One of my best friends has a phobia of needles. When it was time to get shots at school I'd just sit with her, try and distract her, make sure she was OK, I'm sure you know how it works. See if you can have a friend sit with you.
Try not to worry too much about it, the more tense you are the more tense your muscle will be and it's likely it'll hurt more. Don't look, try to not even look at the needle. It's really not that bad.
You may not be able to completely get over your fear but you can make things easier while you're actually getting the shot.
Besides, it's better for you, in the long run, to get the shot. But, I'm sure you know that already.
Just try and relax.
Close your eyes, look away and clench your fist in the hand of the ar you are getting the shot in. It will help distend the vein, making it easier for them to give the shot and get it over with, and focusing on clenching your fist will have you concentrating on that so you won't notice the shot as much. if it's hot going into the vein, clench your fist on the other hand and it will take your mind off it even more.
I take it the last shot you had was at 12? Just a guess...Fear plays a huge role in how we react to things. I've seen many parents tell their children if they don't behave they'll go to the dr. for a shot! Or if they think the child isn't really sick, just lazy, they'll do the same thing. Well, later as a teenager or adult, they are terrified of shots and avoid them at all costs. They build up this scenario in their brain that a shot is the same as having a broken bone or losing a limb. It isn't! and you need to go into it, with the idea that it is going to hurt. But, only a little bit! It's like stepping on a thorn or a small splinter.Sure it stings for a few seconds, but then it's over.
