Why do eyes turn red when crying?

Question:
why?

Answers:
I think there are tiny arteries in the eyeball that get filled with blood when you cry, so it makes them noticeable.
Because you are stoned?
good question..but ask a doctor!!
Blood rushing into your eye.
i think it is because you hold you breath and strain your eyes and this pops blood vessels
I think that the "crying liquid" takes some sort of chemicals away from your eyes, showing your red blood vessels. And it'll only be red if you cry alot. (or 'shed' alot of tears)
i thought somehting like , you knwo if you ever taste your tears they taste kinda salty. well maybe that saltyness makes them red. that was my guess
