Why would this happen from being on birth control femcon fe?

Question:
i was put on birth control b'cuz of very very heavy bleeding. i was taking 3 a day for 2 days (that helped for a week) then 2 a day for a week, then 4 a day for 3 days (as the bleeding came back) then back on 2 a day. the b/c i have now stopped cuz it made the bleeding worst. since i have stopped taking them, the bleeding has all but stopped (thank goodness)...
i had a d&c cuz the lining in my uterus was thickened. after the d&c i was put on metformin so the bleeding wouldn't start back. that didn't work, so i was put on femcon fe b/c.
i'm just not sure why the b/c didn't work and actually made me bleed more. has this happen to any of you? or do you know why this happened? i called my doc back AGAIN and she said there pretty much wasn't anything else for her to do except for another d&c, but she really didn't want to do another one. if i have it done again, this will be the 3rd one. are there any risk of having too many d&c's??

Answers:
I don't know about what the risk - but I think anytime you enter your body for a surgical procedure you are risking some form of damage. Sometimes the benefits outweigh any possible risks. A D&C is the procedure used to abort a fetus - and when a woman has an abortion she runs the risk of not having successful pregnancies in the future. How high that risk is realistically, you'd have to do some research to be sure. If your doctor is hesitating about doing the D&C a third time, really consider other options. At this point, I think it would also be a good idea to go to a different gynecologist for a second opinion - just to make sure all options are being considered.
