Why injured people urinate their pants?
so many pictures of people injured showed them with their pants wet? Is this a nervous reaction or is there another physical reason?

As most First Responders are quick to be taught and to witness, there are two primary reasons why your *whole body* can "purge" in an accident. The first is fear... All animals will pee, poop, vomit, automatically when frightened hard enough. This is the body's way of literally "lightening your load" in a fight-or-flight response. Many scientists also believe that this response may be an instinctual ploy to sidetrack a chasing predator, as "getting a face full" in top gear can be quite distracting. The second reason for this response is the shock of pain. I was once in an accident where I woke up on the hood of my truck, and though I did not feel pain at first, I could feel my broken ribs grinding against each other as I backed myself into the cab. When the shock final broke I vomited/peed/pooped, and passed out from the pain. I've had a lot of injuries over my careers, but few hurt nearly as much as that one did, and even for weeks afterward, I would pee myself if I laughed or coughed because of the sheer agony of the mending ribs. I also understand that men who get a shot in the testicles can have a "purge" incident too, (usually vomiting) thanks to the same extreme pain response I referred to earlier. A lot of times it is a nervous reaction- it's part of that "fight or flight" thing and is thought to be a way to look unappetizing to potential predators (which makes sense, since injuries leave a person more vulnerable). Depending on where the injury is or what happened to cause it, it also may be possible that it would put enough pressure on their bladder to force it to release.
