Hi there...I take Celexa 40mg...and it does have a tendency to cause sedation/tiredness...However, it goes away once you're on it longer--as your body adjusts to the dosage. Medications affect individuals differently, depending upon brain chemistry...One person will tell you it doesn't work, or they've had a bad experience with it...Then another person will say they've had a great experience with it...It all depends on the individual.
I can tell you one thing...Celexa, and Lexapro are very similar, they both contain the same medicine: Citaprolam. These two S.S.R.I's have the LEAST amount of side-effects to them...I 've done quite a bit of research on psyche meds, and I think these have the fewest potential for adverse reactions.
*Always consult your prescribing physician, or your pharmacist for concerns on your medications though!
Your doctor can give you the best answer for the dosing regimen, but Celexa is known to cause drowsiness AND insomnia, so A) do not change when you take it; and B) you may need to discuss with your MD about maybe changing to a less intense SSRI so that the side effects aren't impacting you as much.
It will make you tired. Take it about 8pm. Then it should start to work @ bedtime, and be less sleepy in the daytime. If you take it in the daytime, you'll be tired all day & maybe not be able to sleep.
If it doesn't give you that information on the bottle, call the pharmacist. They are so smart. They know more about meds than most doctors. That tiredness should go away after a few days. You worry too much, hon!! Common sense would say to take it in the morning. Then you should sleep great!! :)
