Is there too much Vitamin D in calcium pills?

Question:
My doctor tells me that I should take calcium pills to increase my calcium intake. Some pills in the store have added Vitamin D, as much as 100% recommended daily value per pill. My doctor says I should take 2 pills a day. Would this mean I would overdose on vitamin D?

I learned in high school that vitamin D is fat-soluble, meaning that high levels can accumulate in your body, even becoming toxic. So, any advice, preferably medically-based?

Answers:
To overdose on Vitamin D you would need many times the 100% recommended daily amount. 400 IU of Vitamin D a day is quite OK and even 600 IU a day is OK.

If you are still worried, do a Yahoo search for "Vitamin D" + overdose (OR toxic) and you will sleep better.
No. You NEED vitamin D to absorb calcium.
let me first ask you whether your doctor was the one who advised you on that pill which is 100% for the RDA. if not I recommend that you find other calcium pills which is relatively lower in amount. remember that it comes in different variations
