NO DON'T BE APUSSY, HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE ABABY
Yes definitely ask for the smallest needles. My husband has problems with collapsing veins.
Possibly. But some test do require large bore needles to keep the integrity of the blood elements for diagnostic purposes. Here's a trick: have the "blood sucker" tap or slap the site of injection a few times before punching in. This numbs the site a little bit to lessen the pain. I can relate to your agony, we're all afraid of needles!
You need a smaller gage needle. They did a butterfly, was it on your hand? I bet it was. This time ask them to try and take it from your arm and not to use like an 18 gage needle but one that is smaller. The thing is with a smaller needle it takes longer to get the blood sample.
Yes, you should be able make a specific request. However, inform the person of the spot that caused you so much grief. It may have hurt because the person drawing the blood rooted around instead of finding the vein and going for it. A good experienced person will realize that that needle is a little large for you and will go straight in . The top of the hand is a bit more unconventional but you can pump up the veins before they poke you. There are other places that blood can be taken from. I get mine taken from the side of my wrist at the joint next to the thumb.
