Anybody aware of any Endocrine diseases/disorders common among people of Greek/Mediterranean descent?

Question:
Thanks!

Answers:
One is: Metabolic Syndrome.
This is highly prevalent in Greece:

And also Italy:

The disease prevalence in the US is near on 25%, possibly more so in the latino population - Mexican Americans over 30%.

This website explains Metabolic Syndrome as "a cluster of related risk factors for cardiovascular disease,
type 2 diabetes and liver disease":
http://www.metabolicsyndrome.org.uk...
PLEASE note the words "risk factors". this does not necessarily imply getting disease.
Also, do not worry. Prevalence might be fairly high in those of Mediterranean descent but most will NOT get this symdrome, even though there are age-related increases in risk.
See a doctor if you are worried about the risk. DO NOT worry though as the chances are still slim. Optimism is always best.
God bless and best wishes.
Why does this just apply to those of Greek/Mediterranean descent?

I am of Italian descent, and i have never heard of this.

Its obviously a blatant exaggeration.
