Lower Calf/Leg Pain?
Question:
So I am at a complete loss. I am still having a dull pain in my leg muscle - today it felt like it was running down the front of my shin and coming out my arch.
I am not taking birth control. I am a non-smoker. The area is not bruised, swollen, hot or red. I am about 5;5 and weigh 180 - I gained 20 pounds this year due panic attacks.
Answers:
Without knowing further details about the characteristics of your pain, what activities cause it/relieve it, etc, one still has to consider if this pain may eminate from the spine...even if the EMG was negative and even if you have no back pain.
Another consideration is your knee...
...or stress fracture...which is hard to detect on x-ray and may require a bone scan...
Sometimes you need to look at the surrounding joints to find the source of pain.
Have you been to physical therapy? They may have the ability to spend more time evaluating it than a physician to give you better ideas about the problem.
well its good to know that all the test came out negatives , i just want to know how does yur pain starts ? while excercising or walking , does it relieve after rest ? or does is occurs at rest or aggravates when u raise yur legs ? all those stuffs . I am sure if there was any pathology , the duplx scan ,ultra sound or MRI or electro myography would have already spotted it . If no pathology is found then the treatment might be totally different .
Well if you rule out everything medical.
I would try exercising and losing some weight. Sounds like you are a bit overweight. Just 10-15 lbs overweight can cause new aches and pains to come to light especially in knees and legs since they bear the weight..I did some calculations for you and by your numbers you have a BMI(body mass index) of 30 which is borderline obese...(mine is 34) You are at least 30lbs overweight..Not sure how you would gain weight due to panic attacks,,,But getting that under control is a priority.
Not trying to be mean just stating some facts and giving an honest opinion.
