What happens if you don't take your medicine?

I agree with everyone else. It's really important that you take it every single day - and at close to the same time every day. Also remember you shouldn't eat for at least 30 minutes afterwards. If you do your body won't be able to absorb all of the medication, which is the same as not taking it.
I put mine right next to my bed and take it every morning as soon as I get up. I also bought a little pill container that has the days of the week on it. That way I always know I remembered to take it.
I assume you take thyroid medication? My Mom does and she had her thyroid taken out. If she misses her medication, she is exhausted for days on end. Tired even lying down. It also messes up your hormones for several weeks, although now that she is in menopause, that doesn't seem to cause her problems any longer.
I'm awful at remembering to take pills and found that if I put them near something I do everyday (like coffeepot), it's easier. Doesn't help you if you have kids that can get into it though.
If you don't take your thyroid medicine at all, it can eventually kill you. Your thyroid is what controls your metabolism. If you don't keep up on it, then your body starts running itself down and it's the medicine that keeps your body going. You not only need to take it, you need to take it at the same time every day. I have been taking mine for 7 years now, and I can tell when I miss just one day. I am very sluggish and tired and can't seem to move at all. When you get a good consistent level in your body, and the level is where it needs to be, then you will start seeing a big difference. Please get it refilled and keep taking it. My sister has also been taking it for the last 30 years.
Your body becomes hypothyroid. Your skin will get dry, you will become sluggish and tired all the time. Your nails will get brittle. You will gain weight . the list goes on, but none of it sounds pleasant.
Be much better to take your meds. trust me.
