I also have had bad acid reflux, and Zantac 75 helped me. And a lot of cough drops. Try drinking milk, and avoid sodas. Hope this helps somewhat.
Milk or icecream helps me. stay away from spicy foods and hot foods. When I have having a attack I eat pudding. Have tums worked for you? I hope you make it until the pills kick in. The best meds I have used is Nexuim.

Go on and take the prilosec. It should help soon. Sip on a seven-up or hot tea. If you lay down, prop your upper body up with a pillow or two. It helps to slow down the reflux. Good luck
i have acid reflex stay away from ,tomatoes, grapefruit ,ecim on protonix works for me ,precription only.doctor says i can take as many antacids i need when needed.between the both i can enjoy food again
Avoid fatty foods, oranges or fruit/juices with citrus, fried foods, milk, carbonated drinks, and caffeine. Don't eat 3 hours before bedtime and don't lay down after eating. Don't wear tight clothing around the waist. I'm on Prilosec too and I take Pepto Bismol when I feel my throat start acting up. Seems to help. Purplepill.com is a good site about reflux (it's by the makers of Nexium), you can research symptoms and how to avoid them, as well as check recipes and foods. Hope this helps you!
An alkaline diet would help.
Hi there!
Most dieticians advise an acid reflux diet consisting of more alkaline or basal foods. The key traits in any acid reflux diet, is that it is low fat and non-spicy. Foods that are usually safe for GERD sufferers to consume are - cabbage, green beans, broccoli, peas, apples, bananas, carrots, lean cuts of grilled meat, fish with no added fat, egg whites, low-fat cheeses like feta, low-fat salad dressings and multi-grain breads.
