What are the dangers of blowing out a vein?

Question:
I just blew my vein out with a needle, is this dangerous? Are there any long term affects from it? Is there any way to make the bruising go away?

Answers:
Since you are asking this question, you aren't a healthcare worker. How did you blow out your vein, that is usually when medication (or drugs??) are pushed in too fast or into too small a vein. Getting technical, its related to sheer strain if you feel like looking it up. It's not dangerous and the bruising will take as long or maybe a little longer than a normal bruise. Doing this alot will make you a "hard stick".

Well, while I'm glad you aren't into drugs, self-mutaliation comes from similar psycological problems. I won't lecture, you can't get help until you realize you have a problem and want help.
Why, are you afraid that someone is going to find out that you are an addict? Get help immediately.

Risks of doing drugs are a hell of a lot worse than the risks of blowing out a vein...OD'ing, infection, brain damage, stroke, heart attack, violent crime...all these are risk factors associated with doing drugs...and you are worried about bruising? Get rehab.
