When a IV drug user runs out of veins to inject their drug, they inject directly into the skin "aka" skin popping. This can cause abscess and infection. If your friends mom doesn't take care of herself in addition to her drug problem, she can get very sick. Besides being a paramedic, I have lived that life style. Sound like she is fighting a losing battle, if she really even cares about getting better. She needs in-patient detox or she may die soon!
I've never seen open sores that big on someone who is doing drugs--even if they are injecting. Unless it could be meth and they've become horribly infected. I don't know. That's very strange.
Why doesn't your friend ASK her mother what she's doing down there? Or ask her father? Or she can have a relative come over. She really needs to talk to someone who knows her mother and can talk to her.If she lives alone with her mother, that isn't good for her to be absent all day. Her daughter probably feels she has to take care of everything since her mother's "not available." She should stop that and just take care of herself.

Chances are shes cooking drugs, taking drugs or cooking, taking and picking at the sores while she is.
Awww, she's doing meth (crystal, Ice). The sores are the drugs coming through her skin and its very common for myth abusers. The drugs build up so badly in your system that the meth builds up like sharp shards of glass and they literally start busting through the skin. She must be using very heavily! My sister was a extreme meth user and she also had the sores that you are describing. I feel bad, I hope she gets help!
Added Info: Meth also eat holes through the brain, picture a worm burrowing through the ground and that's what its like in the brain. Prolonged use of this drug can ultimately change her mentally even if she's clean off drugs the brain damage is irreversible. So it is very important that she seeks help sooner rather then later.
meth causes you to lose weight in most cases, causes you to not sleep for days, not eat, and IF shes doing meth those sores you see would be meth mites...they happen when the person hallucinates there are bugs under their skin and they pick at them. keep an eye on her and talk to your friend bout it, cuz maybe ur friend suspects something too?

she is definitely doing Meth..That is the kind of drug that destroys your skin and teeth first.and if she is in the basement the whole time, she could be making it also.i would call the police when you get a a little more evidence...I live in Wyoming, and Meth is the number 1 drug of choice here for people, because it is so easy to make, and people have nothing to do.way to be observant!
