I had a blood test that hurt like hell but why?

Question:
I went to the docs today about my hand (he thinks i may have either artheritis, nerve damage ot tissue wear and tear) he sent me for a blood test and i have had them done before (im 17) anyway the nurse did the regular got her stuff ready, told me to clench my fist tight as possible and then put the belt thing around my arm (just above my elbow) i looked away and it the nurse said "it will only feel like a scratch" IT FELT LIKE SHE STUCK A KNIFE IN ME it hurt so bad but i just didnt look it seemed to take for ever after she was done she showed me the three tubes of blood she took from me and put a plaster over the needlehole on my arm, i went home and my arm felt like someone was pumping air through it the pain was excruciating it took two hours to get back to normal but this is the first time it has ever hurt...Why??

P.s its the most amount of blood i have ever had removed before as well.

Thanks

Three tubes seems like a lot to take out! I've only ever had one or two taken I think. The only thing I can think of that would cause the pain is the flexing of the muscles working against the needle, that, or the fact that the nurse just sucks at taking blood. I hope you feel better!
If you dont feel right speak to your doctor for their advice
maybe you were so nervous that you were flexing your arm (or wherever the doctor put the needle in ) and that makes it hurt
Very likely the needle happened to just pierce a nerve. These pain receptors are all over the surface of the skin, and more concentrated in some area than others. Even the largest needles are very thin and have little chance of actually hitting a nerve.

This time, you were just unlucky.
