Question:
ok i been hearing a lot about fish oil and how it is supposed to be good for you and stuff. i know that it can lower your risk of a heart disease as well as cholestrol but i am not in a risk for those two but would like to know what else is fish oil good for. Answers:
Studies suggest that omega-3 fatty acids may be helpful in treating a variety of conditions. The evidence is strongest for heart disease and problems that contribute to heart disease, but the range of possible uses for omega-3 fatty acids include:
High Cholesterol
High Blood Pressure
Heart Disease
Stroke
Diabetes
Weight Loss
Arthritis
Osteoporosis
Depression
Manic/Depression (Bipolar Disorder)
Schizophrenia
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Eating Disorders
Burns
Skin Disorders
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Menstrual Pain
Asthma
Because of the potential for side effects and interactions with medications, dietary supplements should be taken only under the supervision of a knowledgeable healthcare provider.

Omega-3 fatty acids should be used cautiously by people who bruise easily, have a bleeding disorder, or take blood-thinning medications because excessive amounts of omega-3 fatty acids may lead to bleeding. In fact, people who eat more than three grams of omega-3 fatty acids per day (equivalent to 3 servings of fish per day) may be at an increased risk for hemorrhagic stroke, a potentially fatal condition in which an artery in the brain leaks or ruptures.

Fish oil can cause flatulence and diarrhea. Time-release preparations may reduce these side effects, however.

People with either diabetes or schizophrenia may lack the ability to convert ALA to EPA and DHA, the forms more readily used in the body. Therefore, people with these conditions should obtain their omega-3 fatty acids from dietary sources rich in EPA and DHA.

my brother has been taking it for his skin ever since he was 15, it all depends on what condition you have

if you want something for you nails try eating cottage cheese or more calcium
Cod liver oil is the best. Nordic Naturals and Carlson brand don't taste fishy. Nordic Naturals has different formulas depending on the kind of omega fatty acids you want. The vitamin A in the cod liver oil helps your eyes and also heals the intestine walls. The specific form of vitamin A in the cod liver oil helps the rods in your eyes. They recommend it for autistic kids who use their peripheral vision and it makes them look straight ahead -- looking at you and not to the sides
Fish oil is good for strong healthy bones and also Cod Liver oil as it has a fishy taste as well.
