How can we stop hiccups?

Question:

Answers:
One thing that causes hiccups is when we eat food, food blocks our windpipe causing us whenever we breath to hiccup to try and push down the food.
These things to do never fail me.
1. Drink water for 5 seconds continuously.
2. Hold your breath until you CANNOT hold it any longer, but you musn't be hiccuping during the holding of breath (it isn't easy but try to keep swallowing saliva while you are holding your breath to prevent hiccups in between)
3. Don't force yourself to feel a hiccup.
4. Laugh at something (works 1000%).
5. Don't eat too fast.
hold your breath and drink water at the same time.
swallow a teaspoon of granulated sugar.
Don't think about t, distract yourself.
If you don't think about it, you won't notice it, or when it is gone.
But if you keep your mind on it, it will only seem to last longer, and, by direct, or indirect action, you will make it last longer as well.
well you could do what I do to my son when he can't stop the hiccups
I'll begin by asking what he had for breakfast then lunch and so on most of the time that works when all else fails we try the holding the breath or the sugar thing. If you get their minds off the the hiccups they will eventually stop
OH and someone comming up behind them and giving them a good ole shock sometimes helps too ... plus it's cute as all get out to see em jump...
All of the normal techniques are completely unfounded, and rarely work. Holding your breath, drinking water, being shocked, it's all just old wive's tales.

There was a study that was made infamous by the Ignobel Prizes last year that showed that hiccups can be stopped by eletrical stimulation of various regions of the anus. It's a pretty surefire way, I hear, but good luck finding the equipment.
stand on your head drink water always works for me
