Then i cant get up till like 12 in the afternoon and im still tired. Then on my days off i sleep till like three in the afternoon what do you suggest that i do so that i can get up earlier

Answers:
I have that exact same problem.
I am always tired too and eating isnt helping me stay awake. I don't know what we could do but lay down and try to force ourselves and to drink hot milk is suppose to be a good thing to do too.
thats not too much sleep
lay in the bed what time you need to go to sleep.. like right now i could probably go to sleep but im on YouQA.com .
It'll take you about a month to for your body to adjust to the work schedule you have. When you get home at night take a relaxing hot bath. Also try to work out before you go to work I know it sound weird, but you'll have more energy for work and you'll sleep better.
I went through that for years. Its the hours you work that causes you to be so tired. Its not the amount of sleep you get, but its the time of day you sleep that makes quality sleep. The one true answer for this is to change jobs or shifts so you can get your days and nights back in order. You could try some sleeping pills that would help you get to sleep earlier, but thats really cutting off your nose to spite your face because they, as well, will keep you tired during the day. Not to mention the risk of dependency.
change your pattern...if you go to sleep at 3am...make yourself wake up early in the morning at around 6-9am and STAY UP without taking a nap and go to sleep on time at 11pm( or what ever time)...that should train your body not to sleep so late at night and in the day.
you are tired cos your body clock is out of whack, not because of too much sleep. I would reccomend going to dayshift if your body doesnt adjust to arvo shift soon
Try taking a sleeping pill as soon as you get home, to relax you and help you wind down so that you can get to sleep sooner than 3am. The sooner you get to bed the earlier you will be able to rise. I always turn off my cell phone and home phone, so that I won't be woken up by someone that doesn't know I'm sleeping. Try different things...don't waste your life away by sleeping. Sometimes if you just can't wake up, maybe your body is just really tired and the only way to shake that exhaustion is by sleeping..Allow yourself to rest. You deserve it.
It just depends really. Is your body adjusting to this sleep/work cycle? It may just pass with time. Try planning your sleep schedule to get 7 or so hours of sleep and stay active during the times that you're awake. There are many different factors that effect sleep, ranging from habit to medical.

Suggestions? Hmm. A louder alarm clock? Try waking up a bit earlier each day, slowly allowing your body to adjust. Stay active. Eat healthy, give yourself energy. There are lots of things to try.

I'm sorry if this wasn't much help, but the situation is a little vague, but I hope it helps.
I'd say lack of "deep sleep" may be the issue. Make sure you're in a comfortable position when you eat. Also, you may be suffering from "lethargy". Get into exercise and what not. Make sure you have an appropriate diet.
den see doctor
I sympathize, I've had the same problem on and off for years. You don't give a lot of detail as to general sleep/eating habits, so here are some that have worked for me: I rarely eat or drink anything with caffeine in it anymore - this made a huge difference. I also started setting two alarms instead of one - I'd set one for the time I wanted to aim to get up - and one an hour *earlier*. This encouraged me to wake up earlier, but still felt like I was "allowing" myself to sleep in. It actually worked - if I'm wiped out from work I sometimes vary it by an hour or two but in general, I'm now on a much healthier and easier to deal with sleep pattern.

I've also started eating better. It's so very, very, VERY easy to slip into bad eating habits on that sort of shift - skipping breakfast because you're rushing off to work, or skipping dinner because you're too tired to make it and it's toooooooo late - but I've been forcing myself to eat. I started with easy stuff in the morning - cereal or a breakfast bar or a muffin (want an easy bran muffin recipe that takes all of 5 minutes to get ready? I can give it to you - AND it's delicious - I hate bran muffins and love these!) - and at night, I'll try and have something pre-prepared or something fast - for example, last night I made salmon and steamed vegetables & baby potatoes - I made twice the amount I needed of veggies & potatoes and tonight I'll be having them again - this time with some rainbow trout. Fish is awesome because it's super easy to prepare (I use salt, pepper & parsley on the trout, pepper, parsley & a drizzle of honey on the salmon) and incredibly fast to cook - so the veggies are going to take about 5 minutes to nuke and the fish takes about 15 minutes in a preheated oven.

Sorry, this turned into a bit of a sermon - it's just that it has constantly amazed me how quickly I saw a difference and how much more energy I suddenly had.

On another note, you might want to check in with your doctor, too - being tired all the time can denote low iron - something else I've dealt with at one time and iron pills are cheap and tend to take effect within a week.
