Allergic reaction?

Question:
I got a tattoo on the inside of my wrist three months ago and it healed fine and looks good. However, within the past two days the tattoo has been really itchy. I do put lotion on it to keep it from getting dry, and the lotion does not have any negative effect on the rest of my skin (and didn't affect the tattoo previously). The area of the tattoo feels "thicker" than the other skin around it, it's a bit bumpy now and it itches like mad.

Is it possible that I have developed an allergy to the ink that I didn't have before?

**posting this under health b/c I'm hoping to get answers from nurses!**

Answers:
it could be an allergic reaction, if you are concerned you may want to try a benerdryl or an allergy tablet to see if it helps. otherwise i would try washing the skin over it with water and keep putting lotion on it. Otherwise if your really concerned i would advise you to go to your doctors. but try other methods first its still too soon to be certain. Hope this helps.
It is possible to get an allergic reaction from tattoos b/c of the ink and/or the chemicals in the ink. You may want to console your doctor. Get a check up, talk to him/her. Also, you may be allergic to your lotion. In my opinion, i would use vasaline.
Yep, it is absolutley possible. Go to the doctor have it checked. It is possible that the tattoo place used cheap ink or there weren't entirely clean needles.
