Are you supposed to let your pee trickle out or help it along?

Question:
My boyfriend commented that when I pee, it sounds forceful, but it's the way I've been peeing all my life. I put a little pressure on my bladder to empty is out.

Is this normal? or am I supposed to sit there and let it trickle out on its own?

Answers:
Pressure. Guys & girls pee differently - he is being weird!!
You want to make sure that you are continually getting your bladder completely empty - which means pushing it out. plus who wants to sit on the toilet all day?

Most likely he doesn't like to think about you doing anything in the bathroom, lots of men want to pretend that women don't use the toilet. Turn on the fan to mask noise or tell him to get over it.
Give it a few years and you will have other things to argue with your boyfriend about:)

I think what you do is perfectly normal, as is the other way. I pee forcefully, but not everyone does. Be thankful that you are continent and don't worry about it beyond that!
In all honesty, it doesn't matter...

It's personal preference. I'm lazy, so I just let it do it's thing. Straining too hard can cause bradycardia, syncope (fainting), and potentially (though unlikely) a hemorrhoid.

Nothing lasting that I've ever heard of.
