What do they do when they surgically remove a bunion?

Question:
ok, yadda yadda, i want to know what they do to your foot, it is not that sever but i am getting it removed prolly next year so i just wanna know what they do to your FOOT !

Answers:
First person has it pretty much right. They break at least one bone, two if it's a severe bunion, move everything back in line, pin and/or screw it together, then put you on crutches for a month or so.

I had one done about 5 years ago and it was great. No pain any more, I run all the time, it was a great decision. Good luck.
.. hmm..
well.. it sounds painful and gross.. and it is.. but it'll heal fine if you do what the Dr. tells you to.
But As far as i know... they need to break a bone or maybe a few in your foot... Shave down some of the bone that sticks out... and then they put in an absorbable pin or two to keep it together.. stitch you up.. put you in a cast.. and You're set.
