How do you avoid biting the end of your tongue?

Question:
I have been biting the end of my tongue lately...I don't know how to quit. It goes numb and is painful and gets on my nerves b/c I can't quit doing it. HELP!!!

Answers:
I feel your pain. I have large cusps on my molars. I kept biting both sides of my tongue and it would get swollen. Made it hard to talk.

The dentist had to file them down. I still bite it from time to time.

Gum DOES NOT help. Just makes you move your mouth more and give your teeth more chances to do damage to your tongue.

This might sound weird, but until you can talk to a dentist, try curling your tongue and make it a habit, so you don't accidentally bite it. Maybe you have an under bite and retainer to push out your front teeth will help.
Bite someone else's tongue.
knock all your teeth out.. ok ok not funny.. errrr gum??
