Is it true that the people who start drinking alcohol while they're young are more prone to the risks of alcoh

Question:
I have friends who started drinking in their early teens and I was just wondering whether that could possibly affect them in the future. Will that make it easier for them to be alcoholics?

Answers:
Yes, it has been proved that people who start drinking at a younger age are more prone to developing alcoholism. Those who started drinking before the age of 14 were more likely to have a hong-term dependence upon alcohol, which has detrimental effects to that person's health. These people are also prone to become alcoholics 10 years after they started drinking as well as having greater risk of alcoholism at various times in their adulthood. They are also more prone to having chronic, relapsing tendencies. I suggest that you warn your friends about this. It's better if they get treated soon.
duhhh
Not necessarily. I had my first sip of alcohol at two years of age. My father is an alcoholic, but I am not. I enjoy alcohol every once in awhile, but age of experience does not impact alcoholism that much. Alcoholism comes from a combination of genetics, peer influence, and life stresses.
I started drinking when I was 14, bad decision. I am 25 now, and reciently I had a bad drinking problem. I have overcome it, but yes, i do believe had I not started partying when I was young, I wouldnt have had an alcohol problems reciently.
They are killing their brain cells and turn stupid at a much younger age.
I dont believe so. I started drinking pretty young and there are a lot of alcoholics in my family, including my dad. As long as it does not become a need then they should be ok. Im not an alcoholic and i keep it that way even though being 23 i go out and drink a lot. The thing is i never need it. I can go out and not drink while everyone else is drinking. Everyone is differant and everyone is affected differantly, so who knows really.
I started drinking at age 11 and was an alcoholic by age 14 I went through Teen Challenge recovery program at 30 and have not drank in 4 years. I lost everyone that I loved and have suffered many health issues.
Did you see that commercial with the little girl in a AA meeting?
I wouldn't say so. I drank every once and a while. Im still a teen and i never felt a dependency on alcohol. Not only that but i have the alcoholic gene in me.
I don't believe that a person is more likely to become an alcoholic if they drink earlier. It all depends on other factors in a persons life. I had my first alcoholic drink with my parents when I was about 12. I was allowed a glass of champagne at a wedding. When I was 16 I was allowed a glass of wine or beer when we had family functions. When I was 18 (legal drinking age in Australia) I didn't go crazy and drink till I was passed out. I always drink socially but there have been occasions I have been drunk. I am now 41 and maybe have a drink once a month and never enough to get drunk.
Yes it could IF they continued to drink. You have to be a pretty determined drinker to become an alcoholic. The risks of drinking young are more that they are more likely to be involved accidents and accidental death. Risk taking is usually at it's height in young teenagers/adults. Many die in road traffic accidents from alcohol and drug related use whilst driving/riding motorbikes. It is just the nature of boys.
Yes,,sorry about your friends..My son did too, & Yes he is an alcoholic...

Your family history has something to do w/it too. Some people get hooked on just that 1st time,,like meth. others get to where they're dependent on it w/time..anyways it''ll lead to alcoholism,,the sooner they quit,,the easier it will be.

It's like playing w/fire, the more you fan it, the bigger the flames.
