Why does my nose run?

Question:
I don't understand why my nose runs when I wake up early in the morning but not on the weekends. What I mean is it runs when I wake up unnaturally, meaning by an alarm. But when I sleep in I don't get them. And I was wondering if it had anything to do with morning air, but then I worked night shift for a while and it ran when I woke up from a night alarm too.

Why does my nose run when I wake up tired?

Answers:
Ah the nasal leak.I get it when the temperature constantly changes from hot to cold to hot. Once it starts, it would run for some time.

It seems both times you are waking up might be with cool air. I wonder if you have the same temperature sensitivity that I do.
Are your nostrils really dry if you sleep in? What is the quality of mucus when it runs? (Mine is clear mucus, which is why I call it a leak)

You might have a slight cold.
I know that with my nasal leak, it would leak when I am not active. But when I am at work, I start pumping some adrenaline and the leak would stop only to start if I become stationary.

If this is really bothering you, it might be time to see a doctor.
