Eating disorder...?

I have to do a paper on Anerxia and was wondering what causes this disorder? Are they really sad is that why they do this? Don't they get hungry and is it a way of coping and how?

they THINK they are over weight and should go on a diet so they stop eating, not for attention or anything

I think that most just have low self esteem, and could be depressed, determined to diet but starve themselves, then it starts to turn into a disease.
