IS this normal for a teen?

That's a tough question. suicidal thoughts are more likely in teens (in my opinion) because of raging hormones. If you are depressed, try to improve bad things in your life. For example, if your mother has been bugging you, be nicer to her and do chores without being asked. This will make her feel good, and she will probably be nicer to you.
I'm not sure if it's normal. There's a chance it isn't. But don't worry about whether or not it's normal. Make your life better. Make new friends, but keep the old ones.
AND PLEASE DON'T KILL YOURSELF! DON'T GIVE IN TO YOUR DEPRESSION!
No. Being a teenager makes you more susceptible to depression. That doesn't mean that it's okay to let these thoughts go unchecked. Please talk to someone and get treatment.
Lots of teens get depressed. Having a thought like that is normal, but having them repeatedly is not. If you have gone as far as planning how you'd do it, you should get help immediately--google a hotline and talk to someone. Otherwise, check your parent's insurance policy for someone to give you counseling on depression. This doesn't sound like the usual "I can't live without her--I want to die" thoughts of suicide, it sounds like you have a real problem.
get help now.!!!!!!!!!...
Not "normal" but not unusual either. Adolescence is a time of great stress and change. But 3 years? I'd get professional help.
I'm not sure if teens are more likely to get it because of everything they r going through, but anyone who has these thoughts ( especially for 3 years) needs to speak to someone they can trust. it might be hard telling someone but please do.
