Dizziness when I stand up?

Question:
A lot of times when I stand up, I feel dizzy and everything starts going black. Often when this happens I get so dizzy that I can't stand and I sometimes loose conciousness for a few seconds. Every once in awhile when that happens I sort of shake...kind of like a seizure but not nearly as bad. Does anyone else have this problem?

Answers:
I also get dizzy when I stand up, and everything goes black and I often see lights before my eyes.
My doctor diognosed it as low blood pressure.
You can google it for treatments and such but you'd be better off going to your GP.
As for the shaking, I have no clue. But I don't think it's normal and you should definatly see somebody about this.
That's low blood pressure. Hypotension. I get that when I diet too much or when I take certain medications.
OMG! That's exactly what I get. Except it's not so bad, I just black out for a few seconds every time I stand up.
I went to the doctor and he took my blood pressure and said that it was fine, that it had something to do with my brain. But he was a really bad doctor, and I've never got it checked out again, I just live with it, I guess. My school nurse told me I shouldn't have to live with it and that I should definitely get it checked out again. But I neva did.
Good luck!

P.S for the meantime you can try standing up slowly when u get up.
I'll get that when I'm very focused on doing something then forget to drink/eat rest for several hours.

Or whn. I'm squatting doing something, then all the sudden stand up. Usually it's because all the sudden the flow of blood rush up to the brain & lack of oxygen can contribute that. It's not exactly seizures. But I would say work stress & lack of proper meals at proper time can contribute to that.

Thus I always place a bottle/cup of beverage beside my table & remind myself to stretching around every hour or so to enable my body to receive better blood & oxygen flow thru out.

Becareful & always take care of your body, because if you don't chances of getting strokes are easier. If possible do exercise min.3 days per week or 30mins daily.
You should get checked out.

Vertigo (what you're describing) is often the result of more than one process at work, and the causes can be incredibly difficult to pin down.
Many people can reduce incidents of vertigo through modest lifestyle changes. Do you drink enough water? Many people do not, and when your kidneys are strained from consistent dehydration, odd things can happen. Also, by controlling your diet such that you keep a normal blood sugar level during waking hours(eating enough, and eating well), vertigo can sometimes be controlled.
Again, get yourself checked out by an MD. It could be that you only need to adjust your diet, but vertigo can be an early warning of more serious stuff, too.
Well, it is caused by yes low BP but it is also called postural hypotension. You can avoid feeling this way by not standing up too fast, I mean when you are lying or waking up in the morning, try sit first in your bed( slowly) dangle your feet for a few minutes then try to stand up slowly, this way you can avoid feeling dizzy and avoid injury.

First you should see your Doctor. Sometimes it can be due to low blood pressure and/or low blood sugar. Try eating fruit or using real fruit drinks between meals. You can also ask your doctor to give you a Glucose Toleracne Test. this will determine if you are Hypoglycemic.
blood pressure problem --- and a trip to the doctor --- is a must do . good luck
You need to see a doctor. This is not something you want to self-diagnose. There are many possible causes, some serious, others relatively minor.
Besides low blood pressure, a few of them are:
-- poor blood circulation
-- a neurological disorder, physical or bio-chemical
-- a head injury, even if you weren't knocked out
-- severe diets, bulimia, or poor nutition in general
