Would it be better to undergo addiction treatment using anesthesia-assisted heroin detox?

Question:
Is this better than going the conventional way? Will this make it easier for the patient and make it faster for him to recover? I know quite a few people who are addicted to heroin. I was just wondering whether it would be better to suggest this kind of treatment to them.

Answers:
Actually, undergoing anesthesia-assisted heroin detox is not better as a treatment for someone's heroin addiction. In fact, studies have even shown that the withdrawal symptoms felt by those who had undergone anesthesia-assisted heroin detox and those who had undergone treatment without anesthesia remained to be the same. There is also the risk of possible complications for those who will undergo treatment with anesthesia due to pre-existing medical conditions. There are also no proven advantages with regard to the use of anesthesia-assisted detoxification. Naltrexone or buprenorphine are even better.
