Words of wisdom for me!! going into hospital later!?
Question:
i am having surgery on the the muscles of my eye and i'm getting scared now haha.
Answers:
You can stop worrying, i had a cyst removed from my eye, my hubby had a cateract removed and my daughter had the muscle tightened in her eye. It is not painful at all, the most you will feel is after the operation, you may feel as if you have something a little gritty in your eye (that is the stitches which will dissolve), but please please don't worry.
I have had 10 operations in the past and have been nervous every time, a bit silly really, because I was in the care of the best people in the world. The nurses.
It's just a few unpleasent hours, but will be worth it - don't worry!!
I went into hospital last year, 1st time ever,and found there was nothing to worry about, infact I rather enjoyed all the attention, (oh I sound sad)

just in case anything goes wrong you can not see which one did it.

Aww I can understand why you are scared, I don't know what is wrong with you but whatever you are having done is surely gong to be of some benefit to you, and you will be in the best care possible! Just think, by this time tomorrow it will be all over and you be wondering wht you were so worried about. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll be fine :-) xx

Don't Worry ! Everything gonna be all Right !. Before entering in the hospital looks at the sky, and notes its magnificence! Then lowers the look and think: "I never walk alone." Then enter quiet in the hospital... Everything gonna be all right

I have had 11 surgeries, and I am 15. I was in a car accident when I was 3, so I know how it feels to be scared! Just remember surgery happens thousands of times a day, and they wouldnt let any incompetent doctor into the operating room. The doctors who are operating on you are skilled professionals. They went to college for years!
Just relax. Thats all you can do. Take some deep breaths. You will be okay. You will be fine. Do not worry. Just stay calm. Good luck!
I personally like the anesthesia. It makes you feel a little loopy, but relaxed. Hehe.
put it in God's hands as well as your surgeons and ask lots of questions before so you are well informed!☺ you'll be fine, don't worry. focus on the end result for comfort@ that's an unintended pun!☺
I had an eye operation about 6 weeks ago & my first reaction to the idea was I could not possibly have someone digging about inside the eye, never mind the muscles.
However, the obvious competence of the surgeon together with all the prayers of well-wishers gave me the confidence to have it done.
When the day came, I was not frightened, and I have now recovered the sight of my right eye, which I have not used for several years.

I too have had many procedures-heart mainly ( I have 10stents in my arteries, and was awake throughout the whole thing) Every time I have been trembling with nerves, but I alwasy think of how many people have these procedures done every day...and although it's a BIG thing for you, the hospital staff do it every day, it's just routine, also -it's just a few hours and it will all be over..good luck.
Bless you. You are bound to be a little scared, but the doctors know what they are doing. Hopefully you will have someone with you for moral support. the main thing is relax, this is being done for a good reason and you will benefit from it. Good luck and hope you get well soon xx
I have been through several surgeries, and each time I was nervous or plain terrified before hand. You only have a few hours to go, so be strong, take some deep calming breaths, and look to the support of your loved ones. By this evening the surgery will be over and you will be through the worst of it. Try to enjoy the recovery period, you know, take it easy and see it as a time when you can relax and let others help you. A few days of 'discomfort' are well worth it.

It's normal to be nervous going into the hospital much less for any surgery. But don't worry, the science of medicine has advanced tremendously, so there are less complications. You should trust your surgeon. I hope you prepared a long list of questions to ask him. and what to expect from the operation.
Even on the day of the surgery, you can still ask the nurses. Let them know how apprehensive, you are. The anesthesiologist will put you to sleep. And if it's on a same day hospital surgery.; after two hrs in the recovery room ; you can go home. Make sure, there will be somebody to take you home. thereafter. T
The Dr will order some analgesia so you will be relieved of any post-op pains. The main complications to look for in a surgery is bleeding, infection and of course the effects of the anesthesia.
Just focus on the the results of the operation. You won't have anymore discomfort. You might not have to wear anymore eyeglasses. The quality of your life is so much improved.!
I have had two ops on my eyes for cysts. I was given a local anaesthetic and I didn't feel a thing. I was nervous each time like you but it was soon over. You're in good hands.

Just keep thinking of the positive end results! The surgeon has probably done this surgery hundreds of times and I'm sure he knows what he's doing. It's normal to be afraid, but they probably will either put you to sleep/twilight sleep or give you something to totally relax you. You will be fine.
i had same operation ten weeks ago and i have not ben right since.Do you know they have to remove your eyeballs to get at the muscle behind.I think they have put my eyes back in the wrong sockets.I have been back to ask about it but they assured me it doesnt matter which sockets they go in.Since my op i have had blistering sore heads and feel sick all the time.Hope you have better luck with your op.
You will be fine plus don't forget if your lucky you will get a pre med and meals on wheels and hunky doctors coming to visit you.. Lucky you take care
I'm guessing that you're a DR student then some of your placement has been down in the theatres?
Knowing what goes on down there prep-wise should be a good thing for you as you know what to expect, whereas the majority of others don't have a clue if it is their first time.
Don't worry about it - I've see quite a few operations now (going into my 2nd year BSc Diagnostic Radiography next month) and every one has went perfectly. You're in good hands.
