If you have had the tests to rule out brain tumors and other physical reasons, you might consider seeing a headache specialist. There are special diet restrictions if you have migraine (which this doesn't sound like to me). I have migraines but also other headaches - I have a strong family history of headaches on both sides, and I am just prone to them. Here is what the headache specialist told me:
1 - Gradually cut out caffeine over about a week.
2 - No alcohol
3 - Whatever painkiller you are using, stop and switch to another. You can have rebound headaches from taking the same painkiller too often (i.e. if you take a lot of Advil, stop taking it entirely and switch to Aleve or Tylenol, etc.)
4 - Are you sleeping? The doctor prescribed me two months of Ambien because she said that she couldn't deal with anything else I had going on if it was being made worse by lack of sleep.
5 - Often an anti-depressant is prescribed as a prophylactic for frequent headaches. I haven't found these particularly helpful, the side effects can be worse than the original headaches.
6 - I find aromatherapy and massage to be extremely helpful with my symptoms - this is just from my personal experience. You can experiment with scents you like. Depending on where your headache is, neck massage (at the very base of the skull) or under your eyebrows by your nose (if you have a headache here, you will know when you hit the spot) can be very helpful
7 - Doctors will sometimes give you a muscle relaxer if the headache could be tension related. These are a God-send if that is your issue. Likewise, you need to be sure you don't have a sinus infection. These can be tricky to get rid of - I often have to go through two rounds of antibiotics to knock mine out completely.
What I said doesn't touch much on migraine or cluster headaches, but that doesn't sound like your issue at the moment. Those are typically more intensely painful (especially cluster) and they come and go. They may be frequent, but aren't usually constant.
I am not a doctor, but I have struggled with headaches all my life. A headache specialist is your best bet. Not all doctors are familiar with the best treatments. I had a doctor tell me to drink more caffeine to help with my headaches, and my headache specialist was totally appalled at that advice. She said it was one of the worst things I could have done.
Good luck
Reasons could include:
Hormones
Vision
Blood Pressure
Underlying Illness
Stress
Neck Injury
Sleep Disorders
Allergies
Honestly sweetie you need to go back to your doctor
Have you seen a neurologist yet? Also, the headaches could still be hanging around from the stress of not knowing what is causing them. Drink plenty of water, get lots of fresh air. When the headaches are really bad lie down in a dark room with a cold compress on your forehead. Also, have a look at the chemist for some paw paw ointment. Rub some of this on your temples and it will relieve some of the pain. Just keep going back to your Dr. If you are not happy with him/her go and get a second opinion from another G.P. who might refer you for some other tests that the first G.P. didn't.
Good luck
