Swelling in the feet after surgery.?
Question:
I am wondering why 4 weeks later that my foot is still reddish purple and so painfully swollen that it feels like someone is stabing me with needles and pins. I have also not recovered any feeling yet on the skins surface. This is very odd to me . I have had surgery before and never had this happen. I am not sure what to do.
Is there anything i can do to help relieve the swelling?
Should I go back to using the walker, I have been using a cane.

Wow, I am so sorry for all you are going through. I had Compartment Syndrome Surgery a couple of years ago, and was place on the vacuum bandages, etc..etc..
My feet were swollen for a while too; but it seems like after one month, you are almost getting worse. Please check with your doctor.
Actually doctors want you to walk on it, but in this case, you have a strange case... hurry up and call your Orthopeadic Doc. Good luck.
the best thing you do is consulting your doctor.
Go back to your doctor immediately. Try to elevate the foot as much as possible.
What kind of foot surgery? Here is a few things to consider.
Have you seen your doc?
Are you diabetic? healing process can be different.
What about an infection? ask to try an antibiotic.
Do you have any kind of drainage from the sight? Color of drainage can mean something. yellow, green, clear
Do you have any screws or objects used for surgery? your body can reject things.
Is your foot hot? it can mean its infected
Is your compression to tight? How often do you elevate?
Ice it
I'd see a 2nd doc for a 2nd opinion if you have not gotten better.
Check your circulation so you don't loose your foot.
If it was me I'd try an antibiotic and see the doc asap.
good luck
RICE= rest, ice, compress, elevate
