Alcohol: why alcoholic sober must avoid vinegar, food with liquor? For psychological or biological rasons?

Question:

Answers:
Psychological.

In AA you will hear tales of how a hint of vanilla extract in a cheesecake or something cooked with wine (which burns off) will cause uncontrollable cravings for alcohol. It's not true, but if you truly believe it will happen, it might.

Studies done in the 70s & 80s showed that people who believed they were drinking alcohol, but in reality were not, exhibited drunken behavior:

Alcohol in trace amounts is found in orange juice and freshly baked bread; you don't hear people condemning their use. If alcoholism is considered to be an allergy to alcohol (as some believe), the "allergy" would be triggered by any of these things.

Many people in AA will use the excuse of an unintentional sip of alcohol to go on a full-blown binge, but that's all it is: an excuse.

AA is a somewhat fanatical,faith-healing sect. They even say the OUR FATHER while holding hands at most meetings, and practice rituals while claiming to be unreligious. (Some courts have ruled otherwise.) Step 1 powerlessness, sponsors, and the faith-healing step three---best done on-your-knees--, right along with the AA "Big Book's" chapter 4 Father "Higher Power" God of AA tells 'em so. By the way, many steppers believe that rx drugs "quiet the still small voice of God", so they discourage their use.
