Why does getting a shot hurt more than drawing blood?
Question:
Answers:
Most people are afraid of the needle, so they tighten up the muscle where the needle is going to go in. The nurse has to push the needle harder in order to get it into the muscle.
The muscle also pushes harder against the medicine, which is actually a foreign substance taking up space which the muscle normally uses..
When you have blood drawn, the needle goes into a vein just under the surface of the skin and not deep into a muscle. Obviously, nothing is injected.
because you are putting liquid into your body (thus forcing something in a space not made for extra liquid) as opposed to taking something out
Because the medicine that is injected sometimes burns or stings.
a lot of times it the medicine they give you in the shot that burns. also because when the take your blood they seem more careful i guess because they have to find a vein
When they draw blood the needle doesn't go through muscle.
I reckon drawing blood hurts more, but then I guess it really depends on the person with the needle.
