Are you diabetic and have a skin condition?

Question:
I'm pre-diabetes but the warning sign was that I have this skin darkening on the back of my neck. It's getting more and more noticeable? What can I do for it? Do I have to see a dermatologist or can my doctor recommend something?

Answers:
Hi,

the father of one of my best friends is diabetic and he has several skin conditions which are apparently typical for this condition: some of these are itching (pruritus) or very dry eczema. The area of skin affected usually is just reddish.

So, I don't know if your skin darkening has anything to do with your condition. In your place, I should see a dermatologist to make sure it's nothing else. I would definitely go and see a specialist because some doctors tend to become rather "blind" to anything else once they have come to a diagnosis like diabetes.

Good luck to you
and all the best

Anna
Both my Mother and I are Diabetic and neither of us have any skin darkening.
Yours may not be related to Diabetes.
