Answers:
Each person has a pair of genes for blood type. Each one is either A.A, A.O, B.B. B.O, A.B or O.O.

Your father is A.O and he contributed the O part to you. Mom must be O.O or A.O or B.O and she contributed the O part also. Hence you are O.O.
What about grand parents and great grand parents? How far back did you go? There's only any trouble if the mom is Rh- and the baby is Rh+ so there may not have been a reason to check before. Or, before Rh testing, was there any unexplained miscarriages in your family history?
