Expiration Date On Medicine?

Question:
I have a prescription of hydrocone from 2004, is it still good? I have heard several medicines are still good 4 or 5 yrs after the expiration date which in this case is 5/24/05. Is it safe to take or should i discard it??

Answers:
Yep, it should still be good, I took hydrocodone that was 4 years old and still worked fine.
You should discard it.
NOOOO DONT TAKE IT!
the hydrocone shouldnt hurt you, most prescriptions start to lose there strength . after the exp date, but only use it for what the dr gave it to you for
the active chemicals in medications are only good for a certain amount of time, which is why medications have an experation date. it is possible that your medication would have some effect, but it is probably best that you discard it. Most prescriptions say that they are good for one year from the date in which they are packaged, this typically should be followed.
