Embarrassed and nervous at the doctor's?
Question:
Answers:
You have to convince yourself that you are doing this to better yourself. A slight prick from shot obviously outweighs being paralyzed. The doctor does not want to bother you or hurt you, he or she just wants to make sure you are healthy. As a medical student, I want to tell you that it is just as awkward asking a patient to do something. We are people just like you. As for the people telling you to grow up, tell them why you are bothered or afraid; I am sure that they will accommodate to you (although your health is first priority for a physician, he or she also wants to keep you as a customer!).
wel just think about it billions of people do it evryday..and they are fine
The first thing you need is a new doctor. Any doc who brushes you off by saying "grow up" is not the right doc for you. Find a new doc by asking your friends who they like and insist that your mom let you switch if your insurace will allow it. Then see the doc and explain your phobias and ask him for a referral to someone who can HELP YOU.
if your doctor is telling you to grow up, change doctors. you should go to someone who is sympathetic to your issues, not ignorant of them. it is within the realm of normalcy to be nervous at the doctors, and NO ONE likes going, trust me. go to a new doctor and have an office meeting to discuss your issues before you have an exam. wait until you are comfortable. you can find someone who will be patient with you, and when you do it will be perfect. however, do not avoid going all together, your health is just too important. best of luck to you and take care of yourself!
a crybaby who's afraid of everything has everyone walk over them later. Stand up for yourself.
