Can people hear and or see when they are in a coma?

Question:
I have a friend who was in a coma so I'm just wondering if they can see or hear me when I talk to them?

Answers:
I was in a coma for almost 7 months, I had 5 brain surgeries so anyone who has brain injuries usually goes in a coma, but yes, they can hear you and see you, so please talk to them.
They don't see you but they hear you loud and clear.
well,my father was in a coma and every nurse and doctor had a different opinion. I would say to be on the safe side, assume they can hear you. Talk to him, reminisce about good times. Maybe it will trigger something in his brain and help bring him around, or at least maybe he wont feel alone, or at the very least it will make you feel like you are doing something helpful when there is not much you can do.
