Zoloft Withdrawl?

Question:
I am a 17 year old girl and have been on 200 mg of Zoloft for aprox. 3 1/2 years. I am going off of it now.. was on 50 mg for a while, 25, and now I've been on nothing at all for the past 4 days. My stomach has a constant pain. I've had lots of diahreha, insomnia, headache, nautious at times, dizzy.. I just started a job not too long ago and it's hard to work with all this going on! How long should it last? Until then, anything I can do?

Answers:
I used to take Zoloft and I had some similar side effects when I got off of it. I had dizzy spells, couldn't sleep, etc. For me, it helped to just wait it out and it eventually went away after a week or so. [I did ask my doctor about it, though and she said to wait 7 days and if it got worse to come in]. You should do the same, and if your symptoms get worse then by all means make an appointment and see what you need to do to help everything get better.
You just have to ride it out. Everybody reacts differently. Rest assured it will pass.
it will last 1-2 months. its hard to get used to it but get a decent amount of sleep and then when you're awake keep your mind stimulated. i know it sucks, but just keep on living okay? it'll be gone before you know it :)
First, talk to your doctor. That is important. My daughter took a couple weeks to get it totally out of her system.
my brother reacted the same way, like someone said.. just let your body do its thing. it should go away once your body is used to not having zoloft in your system anymore.

good luck.
You probably came off the Zoloft to fast - you should have been taking the 25 then take the 25 every other day for 2 weeks, then every 3 days for 2 weeks then came off it. Since you are off now, you will just need to ride it out. I read online that Benedryl will help with the withdrawl symptoms... It will also help you get some sleep which should help. The symtoms should ease away in a month - each week off of Zoloft will be better.
You might want to check with your doctor. I took this also, but with the idea that Zoloft had the fewest side effects and very little to no withdrawal effects. You might have caught some sort of bug and it just happens to be coinciding with your going off the medication. Or it could be your age, I was in my late 30's. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi there

You have done the right thing by tapering down. It could be that you have a stomach bug, that might have nothing to do with you stopping the Zoloft. If it is withdrawal, it normally takes about 7 days for the symptoms to subside, so hang in there. You can get some meds from your doc to help with the diarrhoea, cramping and nausea, irrespective of the cause. Good luck!

Some people think I'm a quack, but the answer isn't pharmaceuticals. Zoloft has serious side effects and may have serious long term usage effects. Although these risks may be disclosed in their advertising and instruction manuals --- Who reads them?
