Theres alot of answers to that! Watch CSPAN, that always gets me yawning
Reading, warm milk or chammomile tea, chat on the phone for a bit, tidy up your room for half an hour... those usually work for me if I don't have any sleeping pills handy.
Don't excercise or shower right before going to bed, they actually wake you up. Also avoid caffene at least 6 hours before you go to sleep, it tends to stay in your system.
