How do you stop the hiccups?
Question:

I don't know why this works, but it always does for me: Take a glass of water and get your mouth full of water, but don't swallow it yet. Then plug your ears with your fingers and swallow the water. Leave your ears plugged for a second, and wait to breathe in until after the next hiccup would have come. Then you can unplug your ears and breathe normally and they should be gone.
drink a cup of water quick
i take a drink of water, then hold my breath for 10 secs. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.. they'll go away by tomorrow.
drink a lot of water :D
it always helps me.
don't drink soda though.
i always get the hiccups by drinking it =X
take a drink of water (and swallow it) then hold your breath for as long as you can.
breathe in and out REALLY fast and then on the last breath for like the 10th time, hold your breath for about 30 seconds, if that doesnt work try holding your breath and drinking a whole glass of water
Hey. To stop the hiccups, hold ur breath for about 10 seconds and if that doesn't work, drink pop.
take a glass of water and bend over it and drink out of the far side of it with your head upside down, you can plug your nose if you need to. Take a few good size swallows. Works for me every time.
put a wee bit of sugar under your tongue
WELL WHAT ALWAYS WORKS IS HOLDING YOUR BREATH AND COUNT TO 20, KEEP DOING IT UNTIL THEY GO AWAY !
You have to have someone scare you...like really scare you, or play a joke on you...but make sure they catch you by surprise..WORKS EVERYTIME!
home remedies like holding your breath, drinking a glass of water or someone surprising you/scaring you should usually help. some put sugar(adults) or corn syrup ( for children) under the tongue.
if it lasts more than three hours, or is accompanied by other symptoms like abdominal pain or coughing blood you should go to the hospital immediately.
From my experience, I have found that there are two ways that truly work. One mental and one physical. If you can repeat to yourself over and over "try to hiccup". I have found if I try to hiccup ..I cant and they will go away. And last week I tried the method of placing a paper towel on top of a glass of water and sip the water thru the towel... worked like a charm. But I have to say that the first method (mind over manner) is more rewarding.. GOOD LUCK
Take a deep breathe and hold it for 10 secs
I have tried this every single time I have had hiccups, and every time it has worked. All my friends and family have tried it and it worked. I learnt it from my grandfather when I was young and ive never forgot about it, I was actually going to sell the method to the doctors! (but thought, its only hiccups not the common cold) Anyway...
- Get a glass of water
- Get a mouthfull of water
- Tilt your head back
- Hold your nose
- Swallow
-Mouthfull of water, tilt head back, hold nose, swallow.
You then repeat this process 5 times or more, BUT you have to do it real quick without stopping otherwise you may hiccup during this and have to start the process over and over again.
I can guarantee this works, if ive explained it right!
