Sleeping with Eyes Open, Anyone?

Question:
When I sleep, my eyes are sometimes open a slit or more. My friends have told me this a few times. At sleepovers, they would try and talk to me after I was already asleep because they saw my eyes were open and they thought I was still awake. I was fast asleep and don't remember this at all. (not even seeing a blurry image) Another friend saw this on a long bus trip and thought I had had a seizure! The doctor has even given me medicine that seals my eyes shut at night. I've also tried wearing a sleep mask, but it sometimes feels like my eyes are "soffucating." It causes me to be a very light sleeper and I was just wondering if anyone has a similar idiosyncracy and could tell me Why this happens and what they do to get a good night's sleep.

Answers:
Me uncle sleeps with his eyes open and rolled back in to his head: looks as if he is died. It is the nerves that con-troll the muscles do not con troll correctly the sleep mask does help some people, but not everyone. Me uncle sleeps in a room that has no light coming through the windows, he seems well rested to me.
This happens to me sometimes, I sleep better when the room is dark, sometimes I take benadryl. I guess I'm just used to it by now. It was pretty creepy though taking naps during the day and I would see someone walk into the room and then wake up after they started talking.
what you need is a head massage. In mexico, my grandma would say that when kids sleep with eyes half closed is because they have their "head open" and with one massage she would give them they would never sleep like that again
