MRI's........

Question:
i get an MRI tommorrow. but for some reason i'm kind of scared. is there anything that i can do to not be scared? What is an mri like?

Answers:
Don't be scared. I have had many of them. Sometimes they can take a while, so you just have to sit still and relax. The machine might make some funny noises, but don't worry you don't feel anything. Before you know it you will be out the door and on your way home.
My husband just had one and he says there is nothing to it. It lasted about 30 minutes and then it was over. If you are apprehensive about it, tell your doctor and he can give you something to calm you down before hand.
I was nervous when I had my first one too. Really, they are a piece of cake, though. They have you lie on a table, and you must try to stay as still as possible. They will push the table into the machine, which basically looks like a donut with the top of the hole smashed flat and the table fits into the hole, under the flat part. If it is an older machine, they will give you headphones and you can listen to the radio station of your choice while the test is going on. The machine gets kinda loud, which is why the headphones. The noise is kind of like a pounding, weird, annoying noise. The newer machines aren't as loud. Basically, you lie on a hard table until the test is done, so it isn't painful in itself. The worst thing for me was the table ( I have back pain). Not the worst test in the world, but it can get loud. Good luck.
