No alkaline in urine?

Question:
well I ended up in hospital saturday night couldnt stop throwing up nurse put me on a drip then did a urine test I overheard her say to a jnr nurse look at this I have never seen it before, when she returned I asked what she meant and she said there was no alkaline in my urine at all, on asking what this meant she said probably nothing just someting in your diet. Okay but what on earth does that mean? can anyone shed light on what this is? and while your at it what would it mean if the alkaline in your urine was so high it was off the rictar scale?? am I alright??

Answers:
Do not worry. It is true, your urine is reflective of the foods you eat and the fluids you drink. Probably they were checking for ketone bodies, to make sure you did not have diabetes. Your urine probably hit the top of the stick in terms of the acid.

This is not a problem!! They were checking for unusual things, but acid or alkaline is not the question.

The types of food that tend to leave acid residue that when mixed with water becomes a weak acid, are meats, and some grains. Alkaline producing foods are mostly from the plant kingdom, including vegetables and fruits.

If you dig into the research, there is some speculation that excess amounts of meat over a number of years, may cause your body to lose calcium - because calcium can be used to neutralize acid. This has been a theory of osteoporosis.

You are find. Do not worry.
I'm sorry, but, a richter scale measures earthquakes; not your alkaline level in your pee.
XD, your answer cracked me up so bad LMFAO!

I think it means you eat a lot of acidic foods and no alkaline ones. It's not good to have it too high or too low.
