Why does watching a music video strain your eyes less if you watch with one eye closed?

When I watch a music video on my iPod in the dark, if I close one eye it strains it less then if I watch with both, why is this?

Answers:
The optic nerve is being used half of what it was, so your eyes SHOULD be feeling less tired.
sounds like you need to go to the eye doctor and get your eyes checked out!
youre using fewer eye muscles when you use only one eye.
Can't say I haver experienced that.
Maybe you should get your eyes checked
Why bother watching when you can just listen there won't be any eye strain at all then
