They say an apple gives you just as much boost as a cup of coffee, and with an apple you won't crash once the caffeine wears off! I have found that healthy, natural foods make you feel better physically and mentally than sugary foods do.

I think very hot and spicy foods are best because they bring out endorphins. And it feels so good when you stop (lol).

Well.. since you said no caffeine chocolate is out, although it is much healthier than other caffeine sources as it also has chemicals that boost seretonin (the happy hormone.)
Foods like cheese, sweet corn, chocolate, etc. will increase the level of seretonin in your body thus making you feel more cheerful and energized. Anytime I feel a little bit BLEH I like to just nibble on a little cheddar cheese and that seems to work wonders. You might also try just searching via google for other foods that affect seretonin.
Many antidepressant medications work by either boosting seretonin levels or altering how the brain reacts to it. Don't worry though. You won't become addicted to cheese.
I like mood boosting drinks better. I concoct my own cocktails and my favorites are vodka based ones.
