Insulin resitant?

Question:
hi.
im 13 and have just been diagnosed with insulin resistance,
the doctor gave me metformin (i think thats what it is called).i just want to know if anyone has ever taken it before? dont make fun of me,and be immature about this, but i do need to loose weight and because of the insulin resistance i havent been able to,so has anyone ever taken this medicine before? does it help? i am not diabetic,so please don't give me advice about that.

Answers:
I have taken metformin in the past. I had no side effects. You will find 40-45 mins. of moderate paced exercise to be extrememly beneficial. Any activity will do, so pick one you like & will do daily. I like walking. You might also want to do various activities so you don't get bored. I assume you check you blood sugar at least once a day in the morning before breakfast. I encourage you to get down to your recommended weight, this will help your insulin resistance as well & is a happy side effect of daily exercise. good luck.
