How do you help a friend with Substance abuse?
Question:
Answers:
TURN HER IN. Yes, someone will be angry but it will not be your friend because your friend is not the person who is talking to you--the drugs are talking to you--and you are talking to the drugs, not your friend. Your friend is gone and won't come back until the drugs are gone. Don't pay her bills, don't make excuses for her, don't cover for her. She must be responsible for her behavior.
Go into her house and drain all the alcohol bottles and throw all her pain killers away. She might be mad at you, but she'll thank you in the end. Just keep doing this until she stops all together.
Also, I suggest you call Dr. Phil. He'll throw her into the Dr. Phil House and fix her up real quick. xD (i'm kidding, by the way)
Well you can not force her to do anything about her problem. She has to be able to admit to her self that she has a problem and that she does in fact want help to change her ways. Any one who is forced into it may simply go through the motions just to please friends or even the courts, just to go right back to their old ways. I have lived this nightmare with family members and friends and have seen it a million times working in EMS. All you can do is pray for her. Do not bother arguing, no one will come out a winner. An addict only sees things their way. Once everyone backs off they sometimes look at what is happening - not always, but sometimes.
Wow! That's a tough one. I would talk to her doctor about it and/or try really hard to get her to go and see her doctor! She will thank you in the end if you can get her some help. Good luck! :c)
Take her to Dr. Phil! The ratings will go through roof! He'''say "What were you thinking?" and then send her to the Mayo Clinic or La Haziender. Send me tickets ts
My bestfriend is goin through the same problem but with meth. If she is a dear friend then who cares if she gets mad now, because if she makes it through this she will thank you for the rest of her life. I have not heard from my friend in 3 months but he is in rehab and gettin his s@#! straight. Good luck
