Don't really know...but if you take IBuprofen BEFORE drinking, it usually helps you from getting a hangover at all.
aspirin al the way
I believe this is someones idea, and not medical fact. If you have trouble with asprin, Tylenol is very good. A hangover is caused by dehydration from the alcohol. Plenty of water will help, and the pain reliever of your choice. In the future, drink water as you drink alcohol, this will lessen the hangover.
I once worked at a plant where I dispensed tools and medications related to minor health problems. One Monday four men came up and asked for Mydol, used to treat menstral problems. I finally asked a co worker what was going on. Turns out that someone caught on that Mydol was effective in treating hangovers.
Tyenol should not be used with alcohol in your blood. It can cause liver damage. But I suggest you not drink alcohol with carbonated sodas or multiple types of alcoholic drinks. Also drink less. Hangovers are nature's way of telling you that you are overdoing it.
I too have heard that and I can't remember exactly but in certain people ( very very very few - probably 1 in millions) it can have a reaction that causes kidney failure and ultimately death. And, apparently that can happen the very first time you mix alcohol and Tylenol.
A bigger problem is that drinking or not a lot of people overdose on OTC pain killers. There is a higher chance of you dying from that I am sure.
The other problem alcoholics face is their lack of food intake. Any time you take a pain killer it is hard on your system but without food in your stomach it is that much worse.
I found that the best way to cure a hangover is to drink as much water as possible prior to going to bed. You will actually feel so full that you can barely stand it. You will more than likely have to get up in the middle of the night and go to the bathroom but in the morning you will wake up and feel pretty darn good.
Tylenol works in your liver and alcohol also effects your liver, but ibuprofen does not. so if you use alcohol and tylenol too much you can develop liver problems .but to use tylenol once and a while for a hangover ...you will be fine.but if you have ibuprofen (advil, motrin) you might as well take that.
Also aspirin like someone suggested thins the blood and so does alcohol...so that NOT the best combination.also it IS a medical fact (tylenol vs ibuprofen)not just something someone made up. just thought i would let you know.
