My G/F has an unusual sleep disorder, does anyone know how to treat it?

Question:
When she tries to wake up it is very difficult for her, she often needs to get into the shower to wake up. She doesn't want to go to sleep for fear of never being able to wake up. She does get nightmares and panic attacks during her dreams/sleep.
Also she has difficulty breathing at points during her sleep pattern. She tries, also, to move her body but cannot.

Please someone help!

Answers:
She definitely needs to be evaluated at a sleep clinic- the breathing problems sound like apnoea, but the paralysis is symptomatic of a different sleep disorder. The difficulty waking up is probably just because she is never getting any real restful sleep.

There are a variety of treatments for sleep disorders- medications, hypnosis, even pressurized masks that keep air passages open. One or two nights of observation at a sleep clinic could really change her life.

Best wishes to both of you!
Sounds like she needs to see a doctor. Maybe even a therapists.
Maybe a doctor could tell you what to do about it. She might just have fatiguée it's not always so big. My mom has the same thing basically, and until we got a pet kitten she now sleeps perfectly and wakes up perfectly maybe she just needs to relax more.
She should contact a doctor who specializes in sleep disorders. She may need a sleep study done.
This sounds as if she may have what is called "sleep apnea' and needs to see her doctor about this.
It can cause problems in many of your body systems, so it is not something that should be ignored.
Get her to a doctor and soon!
Go ask a doctor. She needs to see someone instead of asking random people on a web site (YouQA.com )

It sounds like she has some sleep apnea if she can't breathe. She may also have some narcolepsy. Either way she needs to see a doctor to get evaluated.
I have used this and it is fantastic

Good luck and Happy Dreams
I agree that sleep apnea is likely her problem. I also agree that she needs to have a sleep study and medical treatment.

In terms of waking up, I suggest an alarm clock designed for people who are deaf. It is called the "sonic boom" and clips to your pillow. Instead of making noise, it vibrates the pillow and can be much more effective in helping people with sleep disorders wake up.

good luck to you both.
