FOR SMOKERS- Do you notice a difference in cigarettes?

Question:
I am a smoker trying to quit, but lately I'm tasting a difference in my cigarettes. Some have a faint smell of cannibis and I find myself craving them more and more.

Has anyone done an investigation recently to find out if the tobacco companies are fiddling with the nicotine dosage and other additives?

These companies must be losing billions in revenue and I would like to know if they are doing anything more to keep people addicted.

Answers:
Marlboro Lights sometimes taste like weed, but I've never noticed it with any other brands
No I can't say that i have.
if you are trying to quit move to filtered cigarettes and then to lights and your addiction will lessen. also if you can make it 3 days without smoking you can make it a year.
I'm a smoker and have not noticed any changes, the ciggy companies would not dare to tamper with the goods as they would be hit with destroying damages against them!!
You may have bought some cheap ciggys that are copies and any crap can be in those??
All I have noticed is that they don't stay lit if you put them down. My other friends that smoke (four that I can think of)
have noticed the same thing. We smoke different brands.
sometimes the ones from abroad can taste different even if they are the same brand ive noticed
Im glad you brought this question up because i have noticed that each pack i smoke seems different to the last! i dont quite know why, its very puzzling. I smoke Lambert and Butler at the mo, ive tried other brands but it only seems to be Lambert that i have this problem.

Federal law allows a percentage of each smoke can contain narcotic syrups and other additives. Yes they do add stuff to cigs to make them more addictive. Try smoking an additive free smoke like American Spirit. You'll probably find that you don't feel satisfied after you're done with a cig. That's because you're body is craving the additives in your regular smokes not just nicotine.
I see where you're coming from - I always notice a difference in taste between different cigarettes like straights & roll-ups, purely because of what it's made up of!! When I smoked straights I had Richmonds, and whenever a friend offers me a cigarette of a different brand I could quite obviously taste the difference from what I'm used to for the same reason, the amount of nicotine & whatever else.

I think if any tobacco companies had tampered with the nicotine dosage we would have been aware of it, I certainly haven't heard anything of the sort but it wouldn't surprise me.

Having said that - don't rule out the fact that it could be psychological - if you're trying to quit your brain might be telling you they taste different & making you want them even more.
I only smoke about 5 ciggies a day,i used to smoke about 20. I cant seem to find a cig that tastes like they used to,i also find them stronger.
Trying to quit? Talk to your doctor about patches (can't afford a visit) try free clinic, (get prescription) or over the counter, there are some studies that indicate substances in tobacco. Regular, light, milds are all addictive. Tobacco companies are not losing money, they making billions. Smoking most difficult addiction to quit. Don't want to frighten you, you have heard it before. Want to stay around for a while in this life time? Take a proactive attitude on quiting, it's all about your health.
